Q: I have not yet filed for bankruptcy, is this the class I have to take?
A: If you have not yet filed for bankruptcy and do not yet have a case number, then you will need to take the credit counseling class first. To take the credit counseling class, call The Alliance Agency at 1-888-594-9596. Once you receive a certificate and your bankruptcy has been filed you can take the Pre-Discharge course that All States Connections offers.
Q: How much time do I have to complete the Pre-Discharge course?
A: You have 45 days after your 341 meeting (court date) to complete your Pre-Discharge course. It is a required 2 hour course and your bankruptcy cannot be discharged without your Pre-Discharge course certificate.
Q: When will I receive my certificate?
A: Your certificate will be handed to you as you walk out of the class. If you complete a Home Study Telephone Course, your certificate will be mailed, emailed or faxed to you when you complete the 30 minute telephone session.
Q: What do I do with my certificate once I receive it?
A: If you filed Pro Se (without an attorney), you will need to make a copy of your certificate and give one to the bankruptcy court or to your trustee. If you have an attorney, you can keep your certificate because a copy of your certificate will be emailed or faxed to your attorney one business day after the class. Be sure to follow up with your attorney to make sure they received it.
Q: How does the Home Study Telephone Course work?
A: A packet will be mailed to you containing a workbook, worksheet, answer sheet and verification form. You will need to read and study the work book, answer the questions on the worksheet, then call All States Connections to set up a half hour phone session. You will also need to fax, email or mail back your answer sheet and verification form. |
